Got the OK from Philadelphia-based band Townhall, with the exception that they'd like to approve any shows prior to inclusion. I've forwarded their response and the contact info for approvals to the etree@archive.org address.

The band has already agreed to send a few shows from their archive which I'll get encoded and uploaded as soon as I can. I urge you to give these guys a listen when some shows do appear. A really unique band with 5 guys that are all proficient on a wide-variety of instruments -- at a show, you'll find them switching up instruments between almost every song -- from horns, to guitar, to bass, to percussion, and everything in between. Four strong vocalists taboot. Good stuff. http://www.townhallmusic.com

Hmm..that's interesting. I am into a band called Stabilo Boss (amazing, go to www.onemorepill.com) who allows taping of their shows. The only thing is that they are picky about certain shows being released becuase of quality concerns..they want people to hear them on a good night. I'm sure that they would allow the archive to host shows which they approve. Is this alright or do bands have to give full permission?

There are a few bands that have already taken this approach -- see the policies listed for both Circadian and The Motet, for example -- so I don't believe its an issue if they'd prefer to approve the shows first.

Having the bands have a say in what is preserved from their work seems like fine thing to me.
